Below is sample of some poetry from my upcoming poetry collection.
What I Know
Like the waves,
Tamed by time,
As am I.
Like the salt air,
Bitter by existence,
I am not.
Like all things,
Worn out,
I get by.
Like her,
We struggle,
I am pained.
Like the world,
Turning forever,
We are here.
Like the waves,
Tamed by time,
Soul
Fading, lost in the night,
Searching, find the guiding light.
Hard, though it may be,
Find the strength to see.
Out there, you may be alone,
Trust that you’re almost home.
Though it may not be what you expect,
Please do not fret.
We may be separated now,
But someday, somehow,
Led by the moon,
You’ll find me again, one day soon.
Struggle
Lift up your weary head,
All is gone, all is dead.
You, human of today,
Throw into the fire all that they say.
By broken city awake from your sleep,
Rise up, come now, we must weep.
Lift up your weary head,
All that we loved, all that we resurrected.
You, lost soul from yesterday,
Abandoned all hope and stole the sun’s ray.
Take now the short time you own,
Step down, walk away, alight the throne.
Lift up your weary head,
All will be fine, all that we said.
You, warrior by tomorrow,
Wash away the people’s sorrow.
Lose what once was great,
Move forward, take heed, accept your fate.
Lift up your weary head,
All is changing, all has ended.
You, forgotten from years ago,
Grab your chance to be the hero.
Accept what has been destroyed, it is now in the past,
Lay down your weary head, at last.
Slippers
I wish to forget
To sweep under the rug
My memory of the casket
And the stains on your mug.
Slippers in the hallway
Now left unworn
Colder day by day
And we are still torn
Yet your warmth is still lingering
The lessons passed on
Although my heart is still withering
You won’t be returning at dawn
So, now I send you my final goodbye
And I’ll look to you always,
In your place way up high.
As are you.
